As big fans of Gary Stranger's amazing typographic street artwork, we were really excited when he collaborated with us at Unlimited to produce an amazing eye-catching piece on the side of our North Laine gallery & shop.

Gary creates elegant, complex and playful hand-lettered typographic compositions. Largely self-taught, Gary took up graffiti in 1996 and was part of the MSK street-art crew. He merged the aesthetics of street art with his interest in typography in the late 2000s.

Recognized for their precise freehand execution and exciting colour choices, his works usually depict a single word or phrase in a 3D rendering. He continues to be prolific in both his murals and studio-based paintings, works on paper and sculptures. 

It was just fascinating to watch him work, and the absolute skill in producing freehand lettering with such a perfect eye to proportion and detail! Thanks so much Gary, it was a real treat!
